The Honourable Peter Anderson AM, B.A. FAIPOL, MAICD, RSecP.
In 1967 Peter commenced an association with policing that has continued for 50 years, including a ten year career with the NSW Police Force, largely as a Police Prosecutor, before being elected to the NSW Parliament in 1978. Between 1981 and 1988 he was Minister for Police and Emergency Services, before taking on a range of other senior ministerial portfolios including Health, Youth and Community Services and Aboriginal Affairs. From 1989 to 1994 he served as Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services. He became a Member in the Order of Australia (AM) in the 1999 Honours List. In 1995 he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Police Studies (BA (Pol Stud)) by Monash University. He has been a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 1995 (MAICD).
In 2014 he was appointed an Adjunct Professor at the Western Sydney University, School of Social Sciences and Psychology. From December 2005 to December 2013 he was Director and Professor of the Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism at Macquarie University. He was a Board member and has served as Chairman of the Council for Asian Terrorism Research (CATR). Peter has been a Director of the Australasian Council of Security Professionals (ACSP) and the Australasian Registry of Security Professional (SPRA). In 2014 he became a Registered Security professional (RSecP).
